Hello and thanks for reading this 2nd installment of our newsletter. Here’s the latest, including this month’s Teacher Twilight!
Are you getting this from someone else or by randomly stumbling upon our website? Subscribe so that you don’t leave these things up to chance in the future:
October Teacher Twilight: Favorite Lesson
For October, we’re assembling a wide breadth of teachers, kindergarten through middle school through high school and beyond, bringing to us their “favorite lesson” or a lesson they simply want to share (because, who really has a favorite?) and/or talk to others about. We’ll share these in quick succession and then give everyone chances to meet with our presenters and get more details. There will be something for everyone across disciplines and grade bands.
Here’s our flier to read more details, share, or print out.
And, here’s our RSVP form. Dinner is included, so sign up and let us know what your preferences are!
News & Connections
Utah Science Teachers Association
We’re looking forward to seeing many of you at the UtSTA annual conference this Friday at the Layton Conference Center. (Not in the loop? Take a look at UtSTA’s webpage.) If you’ve signed up for the evening dinner, we’re excited that Weber State is hosting the event here at Tracy Hall. It’s fun to have a connection with our friends at UtSTA, and the annual meeting always feels like a sort of reunion.
Richards Lecture
On the same day (October 11th), Weber State’s Math Department hosts the annual Richard’s Lecture. Offered every other year, this sponsored lecture series highlights a prominent mathematician and mathematical work, emphasizing the beauty and application of the discipline. All are welcome!
Physics & Phriends Open House
Stay tuned: On the evening of Friday, November 8th, the College of Science will go against better judgement and open its doors wide to families for demonstrations, lectures, and a wide array of interactive science activities. Peer through microscopes and telescopes, handle goos and rocks, and see and play with the dynamic natural world. We’ll send out a flier along with the November newsletter, making sure to give you plenty of heads up to advertise to your communities.
